Vans Aircraft RV-12 Airplane Build, Section 32: Setting Stabilator Cables; Section 53: Install ADS-B

Reference: Pages 32-14, 53-07; 4.25 hours

The final assembly of the RV-12 airplane continues. Today I set the tension on the stabilator cables, installed the ADS-B antenna.

Reference: Pages 32-14

With the seat floor installed I set the cable tension to 45 pounds. At this tension there were three threads showing on the ends of the turnbuckles (this is the maximum allowed amount of exposed threads.) Also, 45# is the maximum tension. Then installed the safety clips.

Builder's note: Below are the adjustment tools I made.

Next came the attachment of the ADS-B antenna and cable attachment. I used electrical anticorrosion compound on the attachment hardware. You can't tell by the picture, but the rudder cable does not rub against the antenna cable.

Also I performed some odds jobs such as installing the bushing for the new fuel vent system.

That completes this entry for the RV-12 by Van's Aircraft.
